Steve Wade
Steve Wade has previously played keyboards with the ever popular Atlantic Soul Messengers but is delighted to be back with Lulu, with whom he first performed at Richmond Live 6 years ago. In the interim he has performed locally as a solo artist and as an accompanist to many local singers.
Steve’s generosity and enthusiasm sees him bringing on a variety of talented youngsters some of whom will be seen performing at this years Richmond Live with him and also The Lulu Fidler band. His door is always open to anyone wanting a practise, glass of wine/beer, or just a good old sing song and many a party has enjoyed his appearance guitar in hand ready to entertain into the wee early hours of the morn!!
Mike Jinks
Mike was born in 1822, the son of an itinerant* peddler and a fallen nun. Sold to a travelling circus at the tender age of three he was raised by a family of Algerian midget acrobats who put him to work in the freak show as a Gasper.**
After escaping from the circus he spent many years working as a private tutor to the untutorable offspring of the upper classes. (he achieved some notoriety and is widely recognised as the man who taught the young Prince Phillip how to stare with derision at anyone foreign)
In the late eighties Mike discovered a talent for bass playing and was immediately hired by a Glam Rock Band (just another kind of freakshow) and put to work on the northeast club circuit where he again achieved fame simply for surviving. Since then he has played in many and various bands and describes his experience of the music industry as ‘Boffo-a good one’
Now in his dotage he spends his time playing guitar, singing, organising events and trying to teach anyone prepared to listen how to do the same.
He is married to an angel, has two children and at the time of writing it is four years, one month and nine days until he retires. (not that he’s counting or anything!)
* No, I don’t know what an itinerant is either, but apparently, you can peddle them.
* A Gasper would mingle innocently with visitors to the freak show and ‘gasp’ in horror at the freaks in order to encourage the punters to do the same thus increasing the seeming value of the experience***
*** This is true! Although not as well paid as a puker.
Greg Giles
Greg has been drumming and playing guitar for over 15 years and is primarily a rock drummer, but has other interests in music being blues, jazz and classical. This leads on to his latest venture with 'The Lulu Fidler Band'. He adds his love of rock and blues to this brilliant folk quartet.
Greg is also an avid supporter of local music and with his father has ran 'The Gilling Gig' for 5 years raising thousands of pounds for charity and unearthing lots of local talent.
